Description:

The beautiful Kyambura (Chambura) Gorge “Valley of the Apes” lies in the eastern corner of Queen Elizabeth National Park. About 1 kilometres across at its widest point and 100metres deep, the gorge is drained by the Kayambura River. This landscape is one of the most important areas for primates, birds and wildlife biodiversity in Africa.

It’s been noted by researchers that only 16 chimpanzees are left in this isolated valley.

Bookings for Chimpanzee tacking are made at the Mweya Visitor Information Centre (Queen Elizabeth National Park). The office can provide information about game –drives, and also sells maps & postcards.

From Kampala via Fort Portal 410 Kilometres

Charter flights are available from Entebbe International Airport to the Airstrip at Mweya. It takes less than 1 hour to get there. By road its 6 hours drive away from Kampala.
