Gulf Air suspends Entebbe flights

09 February 2012

Description:

Bahrain national flag carrier to axe Entebbe flights according to the statement released at Airline’s official website.

News broke out today 9th February 2012 at 12:30pm that “With effect from 21 February 2012, Gulf Air will suspend its services to Entebbe, Uganda until further notice for commercial reasons”. The last flight will be operated on 20 February 2012 –statement added.

Gulf Air returned to Entebbe-the hub of Uganda's commercial sector on December 5th last year with 4 flights a week and plans were underway to launch flights to Juba, the capital of newly independent country, South Sudan.

The decision to terminate flights to Entebbe has been taken in line with our Gulf Air’s business strategy to continuously review our existing route network and fleet.

The route suspension will give Gulf Air additional aircraft capacity to deploy in other demand-driven routes and free up resources to explore new opportunities for passengers - according to the statement.

The company expressed its sincere aplologies to the customers who have been planning to fly to and from Uganda with Gulf Air. The statement read “We realize that this will be disappointing news to some of our customers and we regret any inconvenience this may cause”

Passengers holding confirmed tickets to/from Entebbe international Airport are advised to contact the nearest Gulf Air Offices for assistance. Customers in Uganda can contact Let’s Go Travel located on First Floor Garden City Shopping Mall, tel. +256 (0)414 346667, www.ugandaletsgotravel.com
