20th Uganda International Trade Fair 2012; UMA Show Ground, Lugogo, Kampala, Uganda; 8am to 6pm

The 20th Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF) Uganda’s premier annual fair, will take place in Kampala City from Thursday 04th to Wednesday 10th October, 2012 at the UMA Show Grounds, Lugogo.

 

UGITF is a multi-sectoral trade fair, that takes place every year, since 1993, and it has created several avenues for products / services promotion from within and outside the East African region.

Art forum - The Visionary Africa: Art at Work (Kampala Railway Grounds)

The Visionary Africa – Art at Work is an itinerant urban exhibition of contemporary African artistic practices organized jointly by the European Commission and the Palais des Beaux-Arts (Centre for Fine Arts) in Brussels, including artist residencies, showcases of local artists, and workshops on art and development in modern urban centers in Africa.

 

As several African countries celebrate their 50th independence anniversary, the Exhibition’s intent is to focus on the importance of culture and creativity as a motor for development. The aim is to further provide, through the work of African artists, a snapshot of transformations that have occurred on the African continent during the last half century, as well as put its future development into perspective.

The Kampala Capital City Carnival


The Kampala Capital City Carnival runs this Sunday (07 October, 2012) along the Kampala Road. The event parade will run from Watoto Church up to Esso Corner with the main event at the Railway Station Gardens.  

 

This is the first event of its kind and organizers have plans to add it onto Kampala’s must-see annual events calendar. Festivities include live cultural performances and traditional dances, African food and drinks, colourful costumes, giant float, lots of kids activities to keep them occupied. There will also be fireworks displays.

 

According to organisers, it is difficult to estimate exactly how many people will attend.

Kampala Contemporary Art Festival

The first Kampala Contemporary Art Festival (KLA ART 012) will take place in Uganda from Sunday October 7th to Sunday October 14th 2012.
